Goodbye to our old classes. Hello to our new year 1 classes.

Hi Year 1, we just wanted to let you know how sorry we are that we didn’t get a full year together. We are incredibly proud of you all and how well you have coped throughout the year. We have some great memories from our time in Year 1 together and know you will all enjoy Year 2.We have been lucky enough to see a lot of you in school over the last few weeks and we have missed those of you who couldn’t make it in. We have enjoyed seeing your work and photos that have been carried out at home and reading your messages on Purple Mash.  

We miss your smiling faces and are looking forward to watching you grow and learn more when you are in Year 2. Enjoy your summer break.

Hello to our new Year 1 classes

We are Mrs Atkinson and Miss Pearson and we just wanted to let you know how excited we are to meet you in September. Joining our class bubbles are Mrs Harlow and Mrs Riley. We have lots of exciting things planned for Year 1 including learning about:

·         Hot and Cold countries

·         Habitats

·         Weaving

·         Body percussion

·         Fairy tales

·         Maths investigations

·         And an exciting new project on Rail transport

 

We know that some of you will be a little bit worried about coming back to a new class, but we are all here to help you and make sure that your transition to Year 1 goes well.

I am Mrs Atkinson, I am going to be your new Year 1 teacher and I am very excited to have you in my class.  With the help of Mrs Harlow and Mrs Riley I am making sure that the classroom with be lovely for September. I love to teach all subjects, but especially like dance and RE. I love story time and makes silly voices for different characters.  Our year together will be packed with fun, adventure and learning. See you September.

 Hi! My name is Miss Pearson and I am going to be your new Year 1 teacher in September with the help of our amazing teaching assistants Mrs Harlow and Mrs Riley. We are all really excited to work with you. It is going to be a year full of fun, learning and lots of adventures and we can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us! I love teaching all subjects but my favourite subjects are English, Maths and RE. I love singing action songs and can’t wait to teach you the silly sock song! If I have already taught your older brother or sister, ask them to teach it to you!

Getting ready for Year 2

A few parents have asked us what can they do to support their child in preparation for Year 2 during the 6 week holidays. Here are some key objectives, websites, activities and worksheets which you can work on with your child if you wish to. Please do not feel that you have to do any school work during the holidays. The hoildays are for you all to have a well deserved rest after home schooling for the last few months!! In September their new class tecahers will be revisting lots of things from Year 1 alongside the Year 2 curriculum.

“I’ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll BLOW your house down!” is one of our favorite parts to read aloud and enact when reading The Three Little Pigs. This week our topic is The Three Little Pigs and Houses and Homes. Have a look at the activities and choose your favourite ones.

30 DAYS WILD

The Wild Life Trust is asking for children in EYFS and Year 1 to take part in the "30 days wild" challenge throughout the month of June.  We would love for you and your child to embrace the lovely weather we are having and complete a random act of wildness challenge each day while appreciating the great outdoors!

WILD WEDNESDAYS 

Every Wednesday at 10am the Wild Life Trust will be showing some fantastic videos of their wildlife. Please see Wildlife Watch Youtube channel and keep checking our school facebook page for updates and links. 

We would love to see your child's "acts of wildness" so please try and take some photos and there will be opportunities to share these with our school community on our facebook posts. 

We hope you enjoy and let your imagination run wild and see what the great outdoors has to offer!

Here is a list of suggested activities you could do with your child at home over the next few weeks. Please do not feel you need to do all of them. You can pick and choose which ones your child would enjoy doing.

Activity 1:  Your child can spend time in your garden and plant seeds and watch the seeds grow! Your child could keep a plant diary and take photos of your child planting the seeds, watering the seeds and observing the plants grow.

Activity 2: Write a set of instructions on how to plant a seed.
