Inter-School Competition 2019-2020

School Games Update

The last few weeks have been very busy but also extremely enjoyable sports wise.

At the beginning of October our girls football team were involved in a festival and proved themselves to be absolute superstars as they played six matches and managed to win every one without conceding a goal! Well done girls; a great start!

Then our Y6 boys tag rugby team were fantastic as they played in the Town Finals after winning earlier rounds.

Shortly after our girls’ team took part in the Town Tag Rugby finals and after some superb team work and outstanding play throughout the afternoon they were awarded 2nd place medals.

Then, after competing in the cluster cross country competitions, many of our children who earned places in succeeding rounds, and have since successfully competed in the town and then the district finals.

Finally, massive congratulations to our Y6 boys’ football team who competed in the Champions League competition in October. They played some breath-taking football throughout the afternoon and managed to win their group, progressing to the semi-finals and finishing third overall.

We have been very proud of all of the pupils involved in recent sporting events. Well done everyone!

Cluster Cross Country Competition 2019

Cluster Cross Country Competition

Last week nearly forty of our KS2 children were involved in the Cluster Schools’ Cross Country Competition at Summerhill.  The pupils representing the school had all been involved in mini competitions in their year groups, with the first six children in each race chosen to represent the school.  As always, our children gave their very best and many finished in the top ten of their race which means they will represent the cluster at the town finals. Well done to all involved!

Cluster Tag Rugby Competition 2019

Tag Rugby Cluster Competition

Earlier on in the week, lots of our Y5 & Y6 pupils were involved in a Cluster School Tag Rugby Competition at Brierton.   Throughout the afternoon, the five Fens teams played lots of matches against teams from Greatham, Kingsley, Grange and Rossmere. We all had a fantastic afternoon as we cheered each other on and demonstrated some fantastic rugby skills. As always, we were extremely proud of our pupils and very impressed with their attitude and team spirit. One of our girls’ teams and one of the boys’ teams finished runners up and so have earned themselves a place in the town finals next month.  Well done to everyone involved!

Y6 Football League - Round 1

In September, the Y6 boys had their first football competition of the new season. After achieving great success last year in Y5, the boys had high hopes for this competition. Their attitude and work-rate was the same as the previous year and translated to some excellent performances throughout the afternoon. Overall, the boys drew 2 and won 3 of their 5 games. As a result, they have qualified for the Champions League competition. They are now eagerly looking forward to the next round.
