Writing Week 2019

Over the last fortnight, we have really enjoyed hosting 'Share a Story With Me' in school.

As part of the Talk Matters Project (an initiative from Hartlepool Borough Council), parents and carers of children in Reception through to Y6 have come into school to spend time with their children and to share a story with them. It has been a pleasure to witness so many happy moments, where a story has taken the child and their adult away to a magical place. It was a huge success and we are excited to host similar events in the future!

Thank you so much to all those parents and carers who made it into school :)

Below is some feedback from our parents!

'My daughter and I really enjoyed story time. We read a few stories and giggled together! It's a really good idea to share this moment' - EYFS Parent

'I loved the session, and so lovely getting involved with children / staff and parents, so thank you very very much :)'      - EYFS Parent

'Always lovely to be a part of what they are learning about in school, being together in the school environment. My daughter loved it!' - Y1 Parent

'Fantastic reading! A pleasant opportunity for myself to participate in my grandchild's work. 1st class idea - can't wait to come back! Thank you.' - Y4 Parent

'Excellent reading by my two superstar readers! A worthwhile session of reading and very enjoyable for me!' - Y5 / Y6 Parent

'Travelling books' book fair

Another fantastic part of our Writing Week this year has been having the 'Travelling Books' Book Fair!

For almost a week, every night after school, many of the children have purchased a range of wonderful books. We have raised the fantastic amount of £1493.55, which we gives us £836.13 to now spend on free books for our school shelves!

Thank you so much to all those who came to support. We hope you enjoy your new books!
