Arts Week 2018

The theme for Arts Week this year is... COLOUR!

Each year group has been exploring a specific colour:

EYFS - yellow

Y1 - green

Y2 - red

Y3 - blue

Y4 - purple

Y5 - black and white

(Y6 out of school on transitions)

It has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore shades, tones and textures within a particular colour and to develop their understanding of art in all its forms. We have also come together to produce a collaborative display in the KS2 hall, linking together all the work produced throughout the school.

On Monday, our KS1 children took part in some Carnival Dancing delivered by Kimberley, from New Dance!

On Tuesday, the children were treated to a colourful performance of The Wizard of Oz, delivered by M&M Productions.

On Wednesday, we all sported red and white colours in support of the England Football team. A school singalong raised the roof as we wished them luck.

On Thursday, a Carnival of Colour took place, in which the children displayed a performance piece linked to their colour! Our carnival was kicked off by the school Samba Band, with children from all year groups taking part. Our Y3 and Y4 GAT dancers, who have worked with Kimberley this term, also showed off their super dance skills, while the Fens Choir performed the Disney favourite 'Colours of the Wind'. It was a fantastic celebration of colour!

On Friday, there was an Arts Celebration in which parents could purchase a piece of their child's work and enjoyed a display of all the art work that the children produced throughout Arts Week. They also enjoyed a slideshow of images from throughout the week, a video display of our Carnival of Colour and our Fens Choir singing lots of colour related songs.

What a fantastic week, full of colour! Well done, everyone :)
