On Monday 18th June, 30 children from Fens attended the cricket cluster competition at Manor Community Academy. Split into three teams, the children contested matches in two different groups against other schools. Each team competed very well and demonstrated some excellent cricket skills throughout the day. There were also some great examples of leadership and teamwork from the children. After a successful day of cricket, the Fens teams finished second, third and fourth.

Cluster Athletics Competition

On Monday 11th June twenty four of our Y5 and Y6 pupils took part in the annual ‘Cluster Athletics Competition’ at Manor Academy.  The children were involved in a full day of athletics activities with every child competing in a field and track event.  As always our children were great role models and superb sports as they participated in their events. Many of our children successfully finished in either first or second place and will be competing again in the town finals later on in the month. Well done to everyone involved!

Quad Kids Cluster Festival

Well done to our Quad Kids who managed a second place in the cluster completion at Manor Academy earlier on in the week. Eight of our Year 3 pupils took part in the competition against pupils from other cluster schools. The children were involved in sprinting, throwing, jumping and long distance running events. Times and distances were recoded and points awarded. The children enjoyed their afternoon of competition. Well done to everyone who took part.

Y6 Boys Football Final

Y6 Boys Football Final

Congratulations to the Year 6 boys’ football team for a glorious win in the Hartlepool Schools’ Town Cup final at Victoria Park. As soon as we stepped into the ground, it was evident that the boys were excited and confident about the match. From kick off, the dedication and commitment shown by the whole team was exceptional. Every member of the squad played fantastically well and it has been a pleasure to watch them grow and develop into an outstanding team. It has been a wonderful journey this team have been on and, once again, they were a credit to themselves and the school. Well done boys! You should all be very proud of your achievements; the whole school certainly is!

Town Final - Cross Country Competition

Town Final - Cross Country Competition

On a very cold and wet Tuesday afternoon in February our KS2 children took part in the Town Final of the Cross Country.  After putting in outstanding performances the week before in the cluster competition, the children were chosen to represent the Manor cluster in the final at High Tunstall School. Every single one of our children gave their very best on a very tough and challenging course.  They were a credit to themselves and the school. Well done everyone!

Tennis Cluster Competition

Cluster Tennis Festival

On Monday 5th February eight of our Y3 pupils took part in the Cluster Tennis Festival at Manor Academy.  All Y3 children have been taking part in tennis sessions over the past four weeks with local tennis coach Mark Barrass.  Mark, who has been working in other schools in the cluster, had the very difficult decision of choosing only four girls and four boys from our Y3 classes.

There were four schools involved in the competition which involved the children taking part in mini matches as well as team challenges. The overall winners of the competition were Grange School who just pipped Fens to the post by one point.  Our children worked well individually and as part of a team throughout the morning as they demonstrated fantastic tennis and thoroughly enjoyed the competition. Well done to all involved!

Cluster Cross Country

Cluster Cross Country

On a cold Tuesday morning in January forty five of our KS2 children were involved in the Cluster Cross country Festival at Summerhill.  The course, as always, was challenging and extremely muddy, but it didn’t stop our children who eagerly took part in their races and everyone managed to complete the course! Fantastic performances from many pupils, with winners in many races, meant that sixteen of our children earned a place in the town finals in the last week of term. Well done to everybody who took part.

Town Swimming Gala

Town Swimming Gala

On Friday 26th January our Y6 pupils took part in the Town Swimming Gala.  Twelve of the larger schools from across the town were involved after the smaller schools gala had taken place the previous day.  Children took part in races in many events including front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and relays with points for positions added together throughout the course of the morning. Our children put in some outstanding performances and were deservedly rewarded with a range of medals presented by the mayor in the presentation ceremony. At the end of the morning we were delighted to find that our girls’ team were the overall winners and Fens School team took the runners up shield. As always, our children were superb representatives for the school. Well done everyone!

Y6 Basketball Cluster Competition

Fifteen children took part in the basketball cluster competition at Manor in December. Two teams (which both included a mix of boys and girls), represented the school fantastically well and put on some terrific displays. Our teams finished 3rd and 5th out of 12 in total and just missed out on advancing to the next round. Each game was fiercely competitive and great sportsmanship was shown throughout. All of the children involved were a credit to Fens and should be proud of themselves.

Y6 Boys Football Competition

Y6 Football Competition

Friday 6th October

This season’s competitions began with the Y6 boys competing in their initial round of fixtures to determine what league they would play in this year. The boys were extremely excited and confident about this competition, which showed some brilliant performances on the pitch. The team continued on from their successes last year and managed to win 4 and lose 1 of their 5 matches, finishing in second place. As a result, they will play in the Premier League competition and have also qualified for the Champions League. We are eagerly anticipating our next competition.

Tag Rugby Cluster Festival

On Friday 13th of October twenty of our Y6 pupils took part in the annual Tag Rugby Cluster Festival held at West Hartlepool RC.  A slight change to the festival from previous years, led to two competitions being played on the day, an A team competition, where the winners would go through to the Town Festival and a B Team competition. Pupils from five other cluster schools were competing.  The afternoon demonstrated a superb display of rugby skills and fantastic examples of sportsmanship and fair play. Matches were closely fought. At the end of the afternoon Fens B team were crowned the overall winners of their competition with Fens A sharing first place with Greatham and Eskdale.  Again our children were fantastic role models for our school.  Well done everybody and good luck to our A team in the Town Competition next week.
